a realisation

For a long time I have believed that the current government has been trying for the last few years to subvert democracy.

They don't do things outlandishly...no then it might be obvious to the population at large.

no they started by making people afraid of each other, reinforcing divisions between people - class, gender, colour, religion, sexuality etc.

Demonisation of men through the media - highlighting stories of child abduction, rape and molestation, violent men, rapists and other sex offenders leading to public support of the sex offenders register, which has gradually had its focus increased bit by bit to snare more and more people.

Result - women suspicious of men generally, afraid any man on the street is a potential rapist or killer, men afraid to look at women in case they are labelled as a rapist etc and placed on "the register" and hounded by a lynch mob.

second result - men afraid to be seen near children again for fear of being labelled as sex offenders, forcing men out of teaching, creating more space for female applicants, and creating room for further classroom demonisation under the heading of child safety campaigns, designed that people cant object for fear of appearing to support sex offenders etc

Both of the above now mean women and children are now in more danger than ever. Why? because men are afraid of being labelled as offenders so stand out the way. example - a wandering toddler walking towards a river was ignored by 3 men. Why because they were afraid of being labelled as sex offenders.

So this kid almost drowned and died. 30 years ago this wouldnt have happened, 30 years ago people werent afraid of each other, 30 years someone would have stopped the kid and taken it to a police station...now men are terrified and thats the way the government wants it.

People to be afraid of each, women to be terrified that every man is a potential rapist, that other women might be rape gang members. Men afraid of being falsely accused; keep the population watching each other so the governments actions can go on unwatched.

Its a bit like the old conjourers trick, keep the audience watching one hand while you get up to something with the hand they aren't watching. Seems to be the government tactic lately, keep the population busy with pointless stories, create a "terror crisis" anytime a question needs to be avoided and the population diverted.

People need to wake up to the fact that their liberties, freedoms and rights are being eroded by a govt insistent on soundbites and meaningless prattle. Sad thing is that none of the other parties are any better, carbon emissions are a prime example, none of them intend to do anything useful about it, they just all realise its an excellent way to keep people occcupied and keep their minds off of what is really going on in this world.

Foolishly like most in this country I believed that New Labour would deliver something fresh and better for this country; and for a while I believed it. Now I dont, it seems having such a huge majority in parliament so long has made them drunk with power and made them believe they can't be unelected as long as they keep enough scare stories in the paper and the populace otherwise occupied and scared of each other.

I think the phrase is "power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely" and that is becoming very obvious in britain today.

Identity Cards - something britain has managed without since WWII, even during a serious bombing campaign by the provisional IRA and other terror groups where a lot of people did get killed. Now we have a large amount of badly organised "islamic militants" and all of a sudden a piece of plastic will protect us.....shame that all of the July 7th bombers were British born and raised, so ID cards wouldnt have stopped that.

Yet Jacqui Smith has publicly stated that "she will not take no for an answer"; hmm thought we lived in a democracy not a dictatorship. Seems parliament has forgotten that they work for us, not us working for them.

Hopefully people wake up before we sleep walk into a 21st century Nazi Germany or the nightmarish vision of Britain in V for Vendetta.

Before you ask, yes I do believe this govt would stoop so long as to kill its own people to further its own ends

That's bad to divide the people - that is the sure way of self creating disaster for certain individual agenda. We never expect such a great nation also doing such a thing, no better than undeveloped countries.
